Countdown cylinders

Countdown cylinders - I've lost my last game to them. Why are they still being used when do many people have complained about them. I quit Fishdom because of them and now gardeners is out. Thank God Homescapes doesn't use them!!

I'm not far enough to have encountered these. What exactly do they do? I know Homescapes has alarm clocks that count down each turn and then once they go off, you lose regardless of how many moves you have left. Are the cylinders different from these?

I don't understand why the developers aren't listening to their customers. We play the game for fun. These are not fun!
