You get tokens towards decorations & you will earn extra tools & such for tasks you already do like sending helicopters, trains & feeding animals.

you could create your own co-op and mark it as closed so you don't have to play with other people if you don't want to. that way you can still race in regatta to get the prizes

however, being in a co-op gives you a group of people that, provided you get in a good one, help fill your orders as well

Licorice, thanks to other Forum members I learned I could race solo. I've been doing so for a few Regattas now and couldn't be happier.

I've had poor experiences (in other games) with team based events and, in reading the Co-Op sub-board here, Township seems to occasionally experience some of the same drama. While getting my feet wet (so to speak) in Regatta strategy and requirements I'm happier solo. Of course, I can change my mind in the future so I see it as a win-win. Barb

Simple answer...No. You don't have to be in a co-op.

But co-ops do add an extra layer to the game that can be fun, exciting, at times frustrating and yet rewarding. Some only race solo and are just fine with that, other race with a team...small teams or large teams. Relaxed racing styles to Extreme - these are usually your Global teams.

Some like the yacht rewards...I know I do...if there is something new. Or there may be a much needed booster. Others...friends were made.

Another advantage to having a team...is the in-game chat help. This has been a life saver many times when doing tasks...like crate tasks.

So...all-in-all...it is what you want out of the game...a co-op...a team...friends.

    Take a chance!

Do you race alone or do you skip the regattas entirely now? Is it the idea of racing or the idea of a co-op that you're not sure about? Some things to ponder.

I recommend trying out a few co-ops since joining and leaving is so simple. You'll have different experiences based on how talkative, competitive, how much you have in common with, or helpful the members are in that co-op. So don't base your choice of being in a co-op or not on only one or two. Some co-ops are set up for people with specific interests, so for example if you want to meet people and you enjoy chatting about dogs you might enjoy being in one of the dog lovers co-ops. If you're competitive and want to win, check out the co-op ads here on the forum.

Let me share my experiences with you as an example of different co-op experiences. I didn't really like my first year in co-ops because I wanted to win but the co-ops I tried, not everyone did the required tasks needed to win and a lot of co-ops had members who were there only to collect the rewards others worked for. I enjoyed meeting some really nice people but my desire to win kept me frustrated a lot of the time. So I started my own co-op and solo raced competitively for a while then I only raced for the seasonal decorations, not to win or even place. I was really enjoying being a laid back solo racer in the golden league when everything changed.

I was invited to join a top global co-op. My plan was to continue turning down invitations to join co-ops but, I had been a fan girl following this amazing co-op for years so feeling very honored I accepted the invitation. In this co-op, TS is more fun and exciting than ever before; it has become like a new game in that there are new strategies to master and wow, the people add an entirely new dimension. The mutual respect, the joking and the wonderful team 'co-op'eration among the International members has been an absolutely amazing experience.

So basically my advice to you is don't hesitate to join several co-ops and feel them out. You will never know what works best for you until you find it. Have fun, good luck and I hope you find your niche. Above all, enjoy the game, LicoriceTheCat! Keep us posted here or PM me with updates! -K
