The accompanying video is fortunately suitable for all ages.
But those who expect a large cow with a painter's palette will be disappointed.
    ! thanks for those hints x 2!
almost forgot: this kind of copies is even more impressive than those in the same materials as the original.

That might be the reason why I almost forgot.
Had to take a second look to recognize them(because there were two spieces) and shoot a pic.

First we see a display dedicated to Shakespeare and after that (you may have recognized the setup) it is time for Rembrandt's Nachtwacht!

    (click for video)

And before we end this ice cold trip there is this 'Sweet' lady for a short break.

Perhaps the lady is from the 'Wig period' or is of Prussian descent. The reason for taking the photo was mainly the presence of delicacies.

Three themes to go; first is the Wild West with Cowboys, Indians, Horses and Cacti. (video)

    Second is Modern Time.
The National Railways (NS) introduces a new Train this year and it is shown in Ice on this festival together with an older model.
More 'technological development' on the video.

what comes to mind here, really, is: it must have taken them ages to do all these things. How can that be a hobby only, time-wise?
and what do they do with Indians and railways afterwards? or, I have seen in one of the other links, a homepage, that the exhibits can last years - where to put them?

I have been told that for some weeks 40 professional artists go to work to make these sculptures.
The space of the exhibition is isolated and is kept at a constant temperature of - 8 to -10 degrees Celsius.
After the festival, the cooling will be stopped and the ice will melt.
It melts about an inch per hour and because this ice is produced from rain water it does not influence the environment.
The electricity needed for the cooling comes from sun cells btw.

About your question on keeping sculptures for years I remember to have read something just like that but wasn't that about the Sand sculptures?
At least I think so because ice sculptures w o cooling shrink within a few hours and the Sand used for long lasting sculptures has a special structure.
And it could be that the artists give the statues at the end a finishing layer.

    Talking about finishing...

The time travel end in near Future. Will we ever be able to travel to March?
TS Devs had announced to grow Vegetables out space, do you remember?
(it was an April's Fools I know)

And who will say what extraterrestrial life looks like? The ice artists gave their imagination free rein.

I am out of pics and vids at the moment but who know what future brings!
