You can already do this using the Favourable Vogayge booster. It doubles the value of ingots so you can use a bronze instead of higher value ingots. I've been using lately as I'm drowning in bronze ingots from so many smelting tasks.

Just fyi, as you upgrade your factories to higher levels you'll need more and more bronze ingots. Using 30 bronze for a single upgrade is not uncommon.

On the other hand, platinum ingots are not used as much in upgrades, my inventory is 30 to 40 of them so I use those in the islands. If I don't need anything special from Raja, I but platinum or and, as long as I have barn space, I smelt platinum once I've finished my regatta tasks.
