Thread: Downfall of Township?

Re the video guy: I once saw a tip for Android players that said resetting your advertising ID in your Google account may make him appear for some people. No idea whether it works and I don't play on Android. Plus it was stressed that it didn't work for everyone.

Would be interesting to know how they choose who gets the ads and who doesn't. They say it's random but it can't be 100% - they definitely have some information about players because it seems that people in different countries get different ads, so some of us are being targeted somehow.

Lol JJay, that has left me teetering between feeling lucky I get them to slightly paranoid .

The debate on using real money will never get old and saying so won't make it so.

What's annoying with these games is how it's set up to target those who do spend. There's no loyalty or thanks for supporting these games. On the contrary in fact - you get targeted by greed as the rewards for your dollars become less in anticipation of you spending more.

There's no balance between "enjoying" your free ride and sucking every ounce of enjoyment from those who do support the game.

I'm tired of the arguments that it's a free game. How naive do you have to be to actually believe that? Nothing is free. Everything costs. Someone.

The argument is actually more that it can be played for free, if you want or need to. I dont think anyone is naive, of course players realise that the game requires people who will spend money on it. Those who spend will be less restricted with what they can afford to do to progress in the game than those who dont. A lot of players who dont spend or spend small amounts also support the game watching the adverts if they get them, which Playrix will make a certain amount of money from as well.

I do understand being annoyed at getting less generous offers when you are a regular spender though, and think it would be nice if Playrix rewarded rather than penalized the player for showing a willingness to spend.

I am distressed how the event mini games have become all about money. This nonsense where you have to spend tcash or start over on the leaderboard is maddening. It used to be fun to play. But now I feel it is just another cash grab from playrix. I will never play the snowboarding or bus driving event again because of it. I am done.

Have to say I've been playing this game for over 5 years and without spending real money there is very little reward. Yes developers want to raise their income, and that in itself not an unreasonable goal, however it seems to be done without any corresponding reward for the players. If there was a reasonable initial cost to get the game, or even a reasonable annual subscription ($25 perhaps?) and you then used skill and effort to progress then that would be enjoyable. However the model that Playrix have chosen seems to be to nickle and dime the player at every opportunity. Want to do something simple? That'll take you TWO DAYS unless you spend MONEY. How ridiculous is that? Want to win a new profile picture for coming top in a global competition? Well tough because there are kids out there with rich parents who will probably spend thousands of dollars a month on it and get ludicrous high scores completely out of the reach of normal players!

I now refuse to spend any money at all on the game and I suspect many others have done the same or have abandoned it all together, which is a great shame. Township will just end up being an elite collection of wealthy players slugging it out while regular players fall by the wayside. Not a great community but I dare say it'll keep the developers happy.

I have read a lot of players saying this. But in my experience, I have found that, while some of the games are annoyingly, riddled with triggers for impulse buying, the main game is reasonable. I would even say its more than reasonable. I purchased some tcash way back when I first started (it was 95% off. really good price). Ive spent very little, and it has definitely tripled since the beginning. There are many sources for earning more and I don't try to earn kt. I don't watch the ads or do those things. But then I don't buy many decorations (I would if I liked them) and they are high priced relatively speaking.

Regarding your comment on the community however, I am in agreement. Players like myself play this game alone. There's not much of a "community" for players who aren't playing the competitive parts and buying lots of stuff (or like you have been playing for years). That could definitely be improved.

I agree this game is not among the worst offenders among games I've tried. My only beef would be with the increasing difficulty of the side events. Some of them are simply no longer fun.

Ok, beefs. The other is the steep tcash prices for decorations, some of which have gone up from year to year.

I am disgusted with the fact that those with money to spend to complete regatta tasks fast, completely ruin the fun for those who just see this as a game, as a fun way to pass time.
I am in a great co-op, fun players, chat, we live all over the world, so we can share cultural differences, etc. In current race, we were pitted against teams that had over 20,000 points in the first few hours! We can't compete with that!

Imo the whole regatta system is fairly broken. Things have gotten way out of balance. I doubt they have any motivation to rework it though, as there must be massive amounts of tcash spent on them in the current "fun for a few" setup.
