There is a deer on the coat of Putten
    HofvP.jpgOde_Deer.jpg
This explains the presence of a deer in the Hotel's coat of arms
and 'Ode aan het Hert', a statue on a roundabout near the Hotel.

Checked out after breakfast and returned home safely.

interesting - do you know the background/story to it?
and can you translate "Ode aan het Hert" to either German or English, pls; I can't find it, seems the "Hert" is making difficulties -?

    and welcome home!

I found a news paper article about this work of art:

    Tribute to the deer
After the redesign of the area around the entrance to Putten, a piece of art was made on the roundabout.
The municipality called on local artists to submit a sketch design.
An art committee selected two designs and then had the inhabitants of Putten make a choice.
'Ode aan het hert(tribute to the deer)' was chosen.
A leaping deer is found in the municipal arms of Putten.
The deer silhouettes are oriented towards the village and the forest.
The image consists of five elements, a reference to the five jump on which the image is placed.

In Putten, several things are named after Deer.
There is Hert beer from the local Brewery, there is a flour mill 'the Deer' and there is a riding school called the Golden Deer.
By the way, a new art competition was started in February of this year:
the square in front of the Town hall has been redesigned and people would like a statue of a Red Deer.
Artists are invited to make a design for this.

DD, did you see Deers in the Township Putten, other then the Bambis in the Woods?

To add to Ruuds explanation Hart or Hert is also middle English for deer. Many pubs called "The White Hart" and the county of Hertfordshire.

Now I wonder why, as it doesn't explain the connection or history. I've just read about their history and other 'monuments' there (sad, and we won't discuss that here, but it doesn't show any relation to deers). The search not being made easier by the fact that "Putten" is the German plural word for "cherub", lol.
Maybe they have lots of forest around?

not sure I understand correctly what you mean here re. "Putten" (their town or ours? lol), but yes, in TS there are reindeers in the zoo, Santa's reindeer and an ice sculpture (all in my zoo also).

Now that's an astonishing explanation - thanks, Jay! and even white ones...
I would have expected something with "heart" rather.

    Quote from the news article:

In Puttens Wappen befindet sich ein Sprunghirsch.
It is like the thing with Berlin, it shows a Bear on the shield.
From another article about that weapon:
The origin of the weapon with the image of a leaping deer can no longer be traced.

And yes there are forests in the neighbourhood.
An antler hung over the fireplace in the living room of the hotel.
Could it have been Bambi's father?

You said before that Putten is a Township town. I thought you ment Putten as a name for a town you once saw in the game

ah IC. No, when I said it here, I meant indeed, that you weren't in a real world town there, but (still) in TS. Not cos I have seen it here, but cos Putten, as you described it, had so much stuff like we here in our TS towns. LOL, as all jokes, difficult to explain afterwards
