If only the prize for winning this contest was the toffee, caramel candy and fudge in Nana and JJay' pictures.

As a sweet-toothed Brit, I can confirm: fudge and toffee are essentially the same, both squares of sugary buttery yumminess. However, fudge is softer. If you hold it and squidge it you'll leave a thumb print in it, and it can be torn apart. Proper toffee is smash-it-with-a-hammer solid (a toffee- hammer is an actual thing), that once held in the mouth for a few minutes goes soft and chewy. So very chewy. Like, pull-out-teeth chewy.
Then caramel is the gooey oozy version of toffee. The sauce you drizzle over ice cream or cake.
