Color Splash Event: General Questions & Opinions

Help! I can't figure out how to access side columns in Color Splash. I can't pass some levels since I can't get to cannons, balloons, animals, etc in the side columns. Please advise! Thx

I was wondering why there was no thread about it too. But I don't really have anything constructive to contribute since I really dislike those type games. I'm glad I don't love the rewards since I won't get most of it finished. When they're easy they're fine I guess. But what I really really really dislike is when the game suggests moves, since they're consistently dumb suggestions (here, choose these 2 and we won't suggest the one with 6 or 7 ever. p.s. every time we shoot a balloon we'll be sure to break those up for you grrrrr)
