I got parts of it from the official FAQ and the rest pieced together from my experience participating in Regatta so far. Glad you guys have found it helpful.

"Produce X factory items" can be easy if you have some completed products in advance.
Also about participating in next regattas - if I got it right there will be an option (checked by default) to confirm that you will participate. You can remove your confirmation if you don't want to praticipate in the next regatta.
So everyone will be participating in the next one by default. But they will be able to get out if they don't want to.

Completed products need to be on the factory shelves in order to count for the regata. If you have them in the barn, they do not count.

As for opting out of the regata, the option is already there in the additional settings of my android device.
