    Can I ignore decoration purchases?

    Can I just ignore things like shields and armour, or must I purchase them to move on? They are horrid, ditto the stupid castle topiary!

    Aw, really, you don't like the topiary? I think it's ever so nice.
    We have to complete all tasks to move on to the next day/area, so I'm afraid you will have to get all those things if you want to advance.
