One of the things I really enjoyed about the recent event was receiving the underwater mining tools from orders. I wish this would continue but with regular mining tools. That would also free up a train car for building tools instead of mining tools, which would improve on the common complaint that building tools are just too hard to get.

During the event I almost never got bored because if nothing else, I could undersea mine. Without the event there are frequently times when I just have nothing to do in my Township. Being able to go into the regular mine more frquently would help is problem and improve my overall satisfaction with the game & its downtime.
