Regatta Freeloaders Again!

:mad:I'm part of a small, but really committed co-op team Gold League team, Binky&Co.
We have been hard working, completed all our tasks, and happily made our way up each week, for months, with dedication, and great teamwork.
It appears that yet again, we've been landed with freeloaders, who contribute nothing, haven't the decency to even put up their 'Not Racing' signs, but are always happy to reap the rewards of our efforts.
Always excuses, too busy, haven't time 'insert other excuses here'.
Rubbish, I have a professional career, commitments, spouse, I care for an elderly relative, I still find time to not let my team down.
I'm close to quitting, despite a lot of support from my fantastic hard working co-op friends @Blu3frogee and Nordby.
It can't just be us, suffering from these selfish type of players.
All we wanted was a moderate level of dedication, not the Earth on a stick.

Hi Binkyville, you do sound fed up! Why don't you just kick the freeloaders out? Presumably you have given them warning that their performance is unacceptable? Different views on here I know but I personally would kick them before the have a chance to collect the rewards. Why should they benefit from other peoples hard work. In my co-op we have several members the same as you with lots of commitments outside the game, they still manage to come up with 16 tasks at 135. Don't quit, just get rid of them x

Yes, I agree, it's only fair to let other players know what expectations you have of each other. Maybe your playing styles are equally valid but they just don't mesh. Move these players on or set up a new team with a reasonable list of requirements such as 'must do at least X tasks of at least X points or must opt out of race'.

If you only recruit via the forums you'll have a better chance of explaining the expectations before anyone joins so that there won't be confusion.

Binky, some people really don't "get" competitions and races. I have a very brainy friend who plays trivial pursuit but refuses to land on a space that will win her a "piece of pie". She just can't stand the pressure, only likes answering questions. When I play on her team, I resign myself to not winning and just go along for the ride, lol, no point stressing. If insane to win, I play on a different team! :)

Hello Lifejacket, you're terribly sensible, I'm just disappointed for the three of us who've worked so hard, there's a lack of communication from 2 of the members, and the 3rd is 'just too busy, guys'.

I think you've made some really valid points, I didn't really know how to use the forum, but I'm learning. It's quite difficult to recruit, this is the third time we've been let down. I shall take your advice and sort this out.

Hello Mishy, I've asked the views of the great co-op members and I've given the others another warning now. One of several in past few weeks.
I think if we are achieving 6400 plus score, with just 3 of us doing 16 x 135 tasks, then the freelaoders are no great loss. It's such a shame we can't amalgamate good co-ops. TY so much for your kindness, I'm not usually this furious, just felt taken advantage of x

Kick them out prior to rewards being collected and move on with the contributing members. You are stress free and free of the dead weight.

If your co-op is still set up as Open, change it to by request only. Freeloaders love the open co-op! In your co-op description, indicate the minimum number of tasks you want.

We tried that. Using help stats as the criteria for accepting and still got burnt, just not as often. We finally went Closed and only recruit off the forum where I can interview via private message. It takes forever to get even one good player.

When you get a new player in your group just let them know right up front what the expectations are and if they can't or won't hold up their end of the deal you will have to show them the door.

It would upset my hard working co-op friends much more if they weren't kicked out. What is more important?

I'm having the same problem. Rules plainly stated, yet being straight ignored. 8 in Co-op (new-left one that even the leader did nothing but reap rewards/didn't even help her team) only 3 of us (including myself) are running tasks, although they knew it. Only 4 (including myself) sharing with Co-op). It has been open. I'm changing it. One joined then quit playing after a few days, just quit. Good luck. I wish Playrix would come up with a way to calculate who actually runs the tasks and reward them, not the freeloaders.

I understood the quoted text differently, that the suggestion was (like the others) to kick the freeloaders, cos THEIR behaviour was upsetting to the OP. Or rather that it WAS a suggestion, not a contradiction. :)

I kick those folks to the curb.

When you receive a request to join a co-op, have a look at their statistics. If the help other players and help co op members is similar to yours and the level is similar as yours, then they should be ok. If it's a lot lower, don't let them join.

Sounds to me that you have a leader who shows no interest in leading. Time for the 3 of you to leave and form your own coop.

I've changed our forum to by request. Does that mean requests from people will just show up in the game? Sorry new to this.

The request will be in co-op chat. A leader, co-leader or elder can accept or reject the request.

Fantazidabbiedoo would be perfect! It is a new co-op formed by a group who were feeling pressured in an inactive co-op to do 16 tasks each week to avoid relegation! The plan is to be active and have fun, climbing the leagues together. This is their first race. Min 6 tasks and 50 helps to ensure momentum doesn't stop but most do much more! ❤❤❤

pointed out a few things to the leader to increase co ops chances of winning and i got booted before i could claim my rewards and i came 3rd place in our co op!

I don't know if I'm happy or sad to hear that our co-op isn't the only one having issues. We went to by request after week 1. We only accept players with share numbers similar to us. We try to welcome them and explain the rules, and still we get members who cause problems. Our co-op is a little family that has been together since Feb/Mar. We all play daily and everyone wants to participate. But RL gets in the way. All we wanted was a few more players who could complete all 15 tasks. After a month, 99% of the new members didn't work out. Very frustrating.

Hi Binky I know exactly where you're coming from. Our problem is we've had players join- highish levels too- and not say a word. The first one I gave the benefit of the doubt to our team's peril! All our previous 4 weeks hard work went down the gurgler. She did actually say pre race that she would do 16 but only finished one task. I kicked her before she could get rewards. As for these silent ones- unless they opt out I kick them because we've been hurt badly as far as glb goes and I hope I've learnt my lesson lol. It seems so hard to get good loyal players. We have a core group who are very loyal and finding more seems to be a lottery. Don't give up- I've thought of it several times but determined to build a strong loyal team. If you want how about merging with us? Worth a thought. All the best anyway.

I agree with all. We have explained rules and still have players not doing tasks. It's very hard to find loyal players. We also have a core group who play several times daily. So hard to keep weeding out the non participating players and find good ones.

We have a few freeloaders in our co-op too! Frustrating! They either pick one task and finish it, only one for the entire week, or some pick a task and NEVER finish it. Does anyone know how it affects the score if they pick a task and not finish it? I think they should be kicked before they can receive the benefits. I am only an elder, otherwise after ample warning, which they all have received, I would kick them out!

Hi Karen, anyone not completing a task just means that your co-op won't receive those points. As those not following the rules, need to be dealt with by leaders/co-leaders, you can always make your views known in your co-op. If you still feel that nothing is being done, then you may want to look to join another co-op.

I feel your pain! We have an awesome co op and everyone participates except the LEADER! She use to participate all the time then dissapeared for a couple months, she was telling another member that she couldn't access the game but whenever the race was over I'd see the green dot, just in time to gather all the rewards! Every single week! There is nothing we can do because she is the leader, but it just rubs me the wrong way so bad! I can't leave either because I lover my team too much! She won't even opt out of the race when asked.....what to do!

We had exactly the same situation, it is very frustrating! The only thing i could do in the end was tell the others, through an in box message that I was leaving to set up a new co-op and would be happy if they joined me. They did, bye bye old leader and we now have a great little team. You have to start from Wooden league again of course but doesn't take many weeks to get back up to Gold. Good luck.

Yep the only thing you need to do is leave and either set up new coop or join another. You can't kick her! Our doors are open if you are competent and loyal! Sheep Shysters- we are competitive but helpful and friendly. A good core group of dedicated players looking for more.

If it was more than just this one person I would leave and join a new co op or start a new one but I enjoy my team very much except for this one hiccup. I'd feel awful even asking everyone to leave and start our own. Thank you for the invite! Much appreciated :) I am too loyal to leave my team. We have a great thing going

If you make sure you have added them all as friends, you can invite them all right away when you leave.

The helping others stat is the key. However "the helping co-op members stat" will be zero for single player co-ops. If a player has helped many strangers, they will support their deserving co-op members. Low level exclusion is not how you build a strong dedicated co-op. IMHO

I agree with kicking them out, also the company could have a deal where if they don't play the regatta they don't reap the rewards. Also you need to remember not everyone is going to do their part and second sometimes things do happen in life. So you need to be happy with yourself and how much you do help. Don't give up just because of a few bad apples. You are bringing yourself to their level by giving up. And given up is an excuse a lot of people do. So remember how much you and the others do. Hopefully the company will change the rules that if you don't play you don't get rewards. It's a game to have fun and relax, don't take it to serious. Good luck

? if they opt out, they won't get the rewards.

If they don't participate in the race, but don't opt out, talk to them, that they do.
If they don't react or bring excuses, kick them after some time, maybe with another warning first.
In the kick msg, you can tell them what they have to do to be allowed back - if you want that.

Seeing how many sit there with zero points in solo racing coops, I bet there are still many players who don't know how the whole thing works. And seeing some questions here in the forum, many don't even get the idea of looking ingame for the Help descriptions.
Communication is the key, also for making the rules known.
And also, if the leader is the lazy one or disappeared.

This is exactly what we do. I send inbox messages out before each race reminding people to uncheck participate in regatta. Finally we have a team where all the members get it! I also try to FaceBook friend all my team members and set up a co-op group where I send reminders and instructions on how to uncheck participate. About half of our team is not racing right now due to vacations, etc. but they all "unparticipated". Kick out those who won't comply!
